Our story
Founded over 20 years ago by father-and-son, Andi and Andy Lothian, Insights Group Ltd was formed with a singular goal - to provide global companies with people development solutions to get the very best from their people. Insights Learning and Development is now a recognised global leader with over nine million people experienced the power of Insights so far.
Rooted in purpose, Insights is more than a business; it's a force dedicated to enhancing self-awareness, fostering meaningful relationships, and maximizing effectiveness in life. People and community have always been the beating heart of the organisation.
Founding the Insights Foundation: sharing passion with purpose
The Insights Foundation was established to extend Insights impact with those who need it the most-making leadership development training and tools available to organisations who wouldn't otherwise be able to access it.
Through the contributions of our community's time and talents and Insights Learning & Development's gift of products, and knowledge, we aim to empower charitable organisations and their people to increase their effectiveness.

Our governance
The Insights Foundation is an independent registered charity, which supports the ethos, philosophy and culture of Insights Group Ltd and its companies.
The Insights Foundation was set up as a Limited Company by Guarantee (SCO49878) in 2020 and is registered with the Office of the Scottish Charity Regulator (OSCR).
The Foundation's independent governance structure was designed to amplify our support for registered charities and not-for-profit organisations focused on key areas of impact - education, well-being, youth, and welfare.
Our trustees
Our Board of Trustees are responsible for the governance, strategic guidance and oversight of the Insights Foundation. The Trustees works to maintain transparency and a strong sense of purpose, ultimately guiding the Foundation toward its mission of making a positive social impact.
Our Operational Team are responsible for the day-to-day running of the Foundation, working with our charity partners to transform ideas into impactful reality.
Andy Lothian
Alongside his father Andi, Andy founded Insights nearly three decades ago. Together, they've realised their dream of establishing a charitable Foundation, extending Insights' social purpose to areas of need.
As CEO of the Insights Group, Andy leads the organisation in fulfilling its purpose of fostering understanding and positive change worldwide. Under his leadership, Insights has expanded into over 40 countries with ambitious growth plans.
Contributing to communities in need means everything to Andy, and as a Trustee of the Foundation, he is driven by the transformative impact the Insights global community can make in the world's communities in need.
Vivien Buchan
Vivien was Finance & Governance Director at Insights Learning & Development until 2018. Now, she's embarking on a new journey, translating her years of experience into tangible social impact as Trustee and Chair of the Insights Foundation Board.
Through her experience of working with other charity boards, Vivien appreciates first-hand the impact that offering learning and development opportunities can have in empowering charitable organisations. Vivien is dedicated to strengthening charities worldwide to better serve communities in need.
Sandy Wilson
As People and Strategy Director at Insights Learning and Development, Sandy brings strategic leadership experience to his role as Trustee. Prior to joining Insights, Sandy co-founded a successful strategy consultancy and provided strategic advisory for Boards and not-for-profits.
Sandy's commitment to continuous learning led him to become an accredited practitioner for Insights Discovery in 2020, influencing his approaches to strategy, coaching, and leadership. As Trustee, Sandy is committed to furthering the Foundation's mission by leveraging Insights' expertise in people development to empower others through training and tools.

Our Guardians are from all corners of our global Insights community - employees and practitioners who want to channel their passion into creating meaningful change in society by lending their time and talents to deliver and support Insights Discovery experiences for charitable organisations.
They are passionate advocates for the Insights Foundation, amplifying our mission and vision and actively seeking out organisations and initiatives that align with our values and have the potential to transform lives.
